Turn left onto the main highway from Ohiwa Lodge and travel to Opotiki for its many quirky shops. Look into the local Maori arts and crafts. We recommend you try the superb coffee and food at either the Two Fish Cafe or Rostcards Cafe.
Alternatively, turn right onto the main highway from Ohiwa Lodge and head over to Ohope and Whakatane. There you will find lots of shopping and cafes to suit all tastes..
